The SMS.it platform architecture is completely modular and supports any transactional application or service from a simple vote via SMS to a complex mobile banking solutions.

System Interface
The SMS.it platform has been designed to interface simply and efficiently with any data capable 3rd party system in the production delivery chain via simple but comprehensive XML bridges using our documented XML protocols.

In this way internal and external control parameters (such as those commonly found in industry standard scheduling tools or those required to trigger application streamers or content and asset management systems), external data feeds from any source and comprehensive data feeds from the system itself (such as those providing data to the Live Stats manager) can be easily integrated providing a complete solution and leveraging some if not all of your existing content delivery infrastructure.

Infrastructure
The SMS.it platform is a fully tolerant system. It offers high performance and a highly scalable architecture.

The system enables maximum up time, without any single point of failure, using clustered MySQL databases technology.

The application layer is running on a cluster. The servers are connected through a load balancer in order to improve performance and reliability.

The Firewall layer is based on a Cisco clustered solution working in Active-Active mode.

The system maximizes security management by using SSL encryption technology for transactions, RSA-based encryption technology for saving data, clustered firewalls for keeping customer data confidential and intrusion detection and prevention systems.

R&D
SMS.it platform has been design and developed in-house continuously since 1996. The system is entirely modular allowing for quick deployment, easy expansion and scaling, flexible product roll out, easy integration with third parties (from application developers to network operators) and rapid response to market requirements.

SMS.it's extensive operational experience on all new media platforms has contributed significantly to its technology development process resulting in a product and system development roadmap that are mature and well integrated.

SMS.it devotes considerable resources to the creation of innovative products that have practical application in the marketplace.

Data Center
SMS.it servers are secured, managed and monitored in a state-of-the-art facility in Milan. A backup data center is located in Bologna. The Milan facility is in the same building of the Milan super-node called MIX where almost all the Italian and international operators are connected. The server farm consists of Sun Microsystem and Dell servers. The networking equipment (gigabit switches, router, firewall, etc) is provided from Cisco Systems.

State-of-the-art redundant systems for power, HVAC, fiber connectivity, seismic precautions and fire suppression.

Our data center maintains the highest possible standards for physical security, including 24x7 security guards at front entrance and secondary check-in at our floor data center.

The facility has tremendous cooling infrastructure, with dual redundant chilled water supply loops and multiple air conditioning units pumping cold air into the pressurized raised floor of our data center.

Our data center power is fed by conditioned UPS (uninterruptible power supply) electricity and with the following systems in place to ensure power back-up: redundant power feeds with UPS power and 2 x 2 megawatt generators.

SMS.it operates its own network, featuring multi-homed bandwidth with connections to over 15 networks using BGP4. We route traffic over major Tier 1 Internet backbones with no low-quality bandwidth and plenty of network capacity for maximum reliability and scalability. SMS.it Network Operations Center (NOC) is staffed 24/7/365 by certified systems administrators and network engineers.

All the infrastructure is automatically monitored 24x7 with alerts for all critical systems.
